Lenny el 14 de Febrero?

A mas de cuatro meses (Septiembre 2008) que debio salir la versión 5 de Debian nombre codigo “Lenny”. Este dia me entero atravez de la lista de correo de desarrollo de debian que posiblemente Lenny vea la luz el 14 de Febrero, digo posiblemente ya que solo es una fecha tentativa ya que aun falta afinar algunos detalles con todos los equipos que estan involucrados en el desarrollo y lazamiento de esta versión.

Aunque no me extrañaria que a última hora la fecha fuera pospuesta ya que el equipo prefiere calidad en lugar de cumplir con fechas, en lo personal me parece una muy buena idea, ya que Debian es reconocida por su estabilidad. Asi que a esperar el lanzamiento de Lenny segun los desarrolladores la mejor distribución de Debian… hasta ahora

El Salvador ya tiene Debian Developer

Este día me he enterado que El Salvador ya cuenta con un DD (Debian Developer) el primero en El Salvador y el segundo a nivel centroamericano, así que muchas felicidades a René Mayorga (a.k.a. rmayorga o churro) por este gran logro que sin duda conlleva una gran responsabilidad. Espero que muchos más se unan a este gran proyecto, en lo personal espero hacerlo también algún día (espero que no muy lejano)

R.I.P. HP 4443

After some time of being sick, this day has officially killed my desktop an HP 4443, a fact that I’m not surprised, because the computer had about ten years (too long for a Computer) died the following characteristics: AMD K-6 II 333Mhz, 256MB of RAM and with Debian Etch and Xubuntu 7.10.

So to be my main tool of work (at home) have stalled with the personal projects but anyway I’m in a campaign to acquire new equipment and thus further delay and not much projects.

Total migration

This day I have decided to make a total migration to Linux, specifically Xubuntu, Today I’ve been using but retained a partition with Windows XP, because it occasionally used to program applications using Visual Studio and Visual Fox.

So, what has driven me to break away from Windows? To be honest it was a step that I always wanted, but never dared me because I felt that was not ready.

Am I ready now? The truth… No However, the continued collapse of Windows (blue screen) have made me take this big leap.

As I mentioned earlier I already have about a year-to-use Linux (Debian and Xubuntu) but only at the occasional user and not as the primary operating system. One of my goals is to actively contribute to the future development of Xubuntu maintaining a package, but before that I must reinforce the little knowledge I have in the languages C/C++, Perl, Python …

I hope to publish progress
